Bar Codes:  

IDAutomation comes with a good collection of barcode fonts including four versions of Code128 (including UCC/EAN128), several versions of Code 39, Codabar, EAN 8 & 13, Industrial and Interleaved 2 of 5, UPC A & E, Postnet and more. This software can also formulate check digits.

Compatibility:  

This program can receive data from a variety of applications and accepts numerous image types. It can accept barcode values from comma delimited files, Excel, Access and csv files. It terms of image types, it accepts bmp, gif, jpeg, wmf and pcs file types. All IDAutomation products work with Vista.

We really liked building labels with this program, but when we tried to copy the label and paste it into another program, it copies an entire screen shot. We also tried using the “select all” tool and copied but it still pasted an entire screen shot. We could also not just select the barcode and paste it into other programs. In addition, it saves in emf format, so to change format we had to use Adobe Photoshop Elements to convert the file type.

Label Design Tools:  

IDAutomation has one of the better label creators that we have seen. It is easy to use, supports images and also has grid lines, a ruler, alignment features, orientation functions and more. You can also add lines, ellipses (circles) and rectangles (squares).

In terms of label stock it has pre–set configurations for Avery, Herma, Zweckform and others. The barcodes can have customized heights, widths, ratios and margins as well as unique text and color options.

Ease of Use:  

We found this program easier to use than many label creation programs; we designed a label with an image, a barcode and distinctive text within minutes. Images are easily accessible and the barcode properties are simple to adjust.

IDAutomation is an affordable yet functional barcode and label program that is a good choice for small retails or small companies who need their own unique barcode labels.
